Formed in London in 1977, The Police comprised drummer Stewart Copeland, guitarist Andy Summers, and frontman/bassist Sting. Zenyatta Mondatta cemented their international stardom, delivering enduring singles such as “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” and “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da”. The album was both a commercial and critical triumph, reaching number one in the UK and top five in the US, despite the band later admitting to some regret over the rushed nature of its recording.
