The Police – FIRST JAPANESE TOUR CD
£12.99
Formed in London in 1977, The Police comprised drummer Stewart Copeland, guitarist Andy Summers, and frontman/bassist Sting. Emerging from the British new wave scene, they fused punk energy with reggae rhythms and pop melodies to craft a distinctive sound that came to define the late ’70s and early ’80s. During their short but meteoric career, the band earned global acclaim, collecting multiple Grammy Awards, selling over 75 million records, and establishing an enduring legacy as one of the most influential bands of the era.By the time they began recording Zenyatta Mondatta in 1980, The Police were already riding high on the success of their first two albums, Outlandos d’Amour (1978) and Reggatta de Blanc (1979). With hits like “Message in a Bottle” and “Walking on the Moon”, they had become chart regulars. Zenyatta Mondatta cemented their international stardom, delivering enduring singles such as “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” and “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da”. The album was both a commercial and critical triumph, reaching number one in the UK and top five in the US, despite the band later admitting to some regret over the rushed nature of its recording.
