Pink Floyd – ATOMIC SAUCERS CD

Pink Floyd’s fourth album, Ummagumma, represented a departure from the band’s previous work. Released as a double LP, the first two sides contained live performances, while the second LP provides a single experimental contribution from each member.  Released in November 1969, it received positive reviews and reached number five, spending 21 weeks on the UK chart. A year on, in October 1970, Floyd released Atom Heart Mother. Roger Waters was critical of the album, claiming that he would prefer if it were “thrown into the dustbin and never listened to by anyone ever again.”  David Gilmour described it as “a load of rubbish.” It was, however, Pink Floyd’s first number one, and was hugely successful in Britain, spending 18 weeks on the UK chart.  It premiered at the Bath Festival on 27 June 1970. Pink Floyd toured extensively across America and Europe in 1970 and by November were in central Europe. On 28th of the month, Floyd performed at the Saarlandhalle, in Saarbrücken, Germany, where they played a superb set, featuring cuts from the new album alongside a number from previous records, and the whole event was recorded for live broadcast on local FM radio.Now released on this new CD for the first time, this intriguing and enjoyable live Floyd recording will prove a delight for fans everywhere.
