Six months after the release of “Vietnam”, the second Ljungblut cassette inspired by Kim Ljung’s travels, Karisma Records will release a special limited edition vinyl album collecting both the “Sauda” and “Vietnam” mini albums. “Sauda” was the result of Kim Ljung finally doing something he had wanted to do for years: To travel alone to his family’s old, tiny cabin in Nordstøldalen, Sauda. His sequel “Vietnam” followed in the same characteristic steps – Released only on cassette and streaming, bearing the theme of a particular place. While Sauda was a strong memory from Ljung’s childhood, Vietnam became significant for Kim and his travel companion Harald Rosenløw Eeg back in the 90s. The young backpackers made countless trips throughout that decade. Both for leisure and for composing. Kim with his lyrics and music, Harald with his many novels to come. They shared the same intensity. The same eagerness. The same infatuation with Vietnam. Many years later they would end up going back. To catch that spirit once again. It had to be documented. Musically. The sonic landscape is built up around Kim’s intimate vocal, soft acoustic guitars, muffled pianos, oriental bells, mellow trumpets and tasty old Korgs, all handcrafted into a sincere and warm production of engineer and multi-instrumentalist Terje Johannesen. Recorded and mixed by Terje Johannesen in Studio Frodeløkka.Produced and performed by Kim Ljung and Terje Johannessen, with contributions from Dan Heide (Sauda) Sindre Pedersen (Vietnam) and Sval Rosenløw Eeg (Vietnam)
