Andy Goldner (aka Andy Göldner) remains an important part of the music scene in the Stuttgart area to this day. He began his career as a member of the Stuttgart-based band The Five-Fold (1965–1969), musically influenced by beat, pop, and the music of Jimi Hendrix. In addition, Goldner was a member of Muli & The Misfits, Seelow, and of course, Exmagma. After a brief stint with the band Yagua, he founded the first Andy Goldner Band in 1977, performing that same year alongside Kraan in front of 8,000 people at the "Mini-Woodstock" in the Odenwald. That year he also contributed to Hellmut Hattler’s LP “Bassball” and, a year later, to Johannes ‘Alto’ Pappert’s solo debut "Alto".In 1979, Goldner released his first solo LP, recorded and produced by Conny Plank. In 1980, he began work on his second album "Belleville", released by the German label Peak (part of GAMA Musikverlag). Alongside Goldner (vocals, guitar), his Exmagma bandmate Tommy Balluf (organ) played a central role. Bass and drums were provided by two musicians from Eulenspygel – Peter Weber (bass) and Peter Garattoni (drums). The LP was mixed by Achim Bosch, known for his work on many early German rock records.Stylistically, "Belleville" is truly one of a kind – both then and now. While Goldner’s earlier musical roots were steeped in krautrock and prog, this album mixes that foundation (reflected in the line-up) with the then-emerging new wave punk, elements of hard rock, and even touches of reggae in two tracks. This stew never feels forced or artificial but comes across as natural and compelling. Now available for the first time on CD, fully remastered, and including liner notes by Andy Goldner himself, plus rare photos and memorabilia. In the 1990s, Goldner also worked as a producer (e.g. for Helga Pictures) and focused increasingly on film music.
