GUNS N’ ROSES – THE GREAT LOST ALBUM CD
£12.99
Hollywood Rose, the band that would eventually become Guns N’ Roses, took shape on the Los Angeles scene when Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin and Chris Weber began writing and recording together in the early 1980s. The line-up and name shifted over the next few years, yet the spark that would later define Guns N’ Roses was already present, signalling the direction the band was destined to take. The 1981 demos included here capture that early spark in its rawest form. Recorded before the band had officially formed, they are rough around the edges but full of promise, with riffs, melodies and ideas beginning to take shape even as the musicians were still finding their footing. Their appeal lies in hearing the foundations being set, offering a rare glimpse of a group evolving in real time, long before the wider world knew their name.By 1986 the transformation into Guns N’ Roses was complete, and the sessions for what became Appetite for Destruction (1987) reveal a band sharpening its sound with intent, poised to break beyond the Sunset Strip and onto the global stage. These demos show songs becoming stronger, arrangements tightening and the band’s identity locking into place, documenting the leap from raw beginnings to the creation of a landmark debut.
