Gary Numan burst on to the scene at the end of the 1970s as one of the most distinctive figures in British music, earning chart-topping success, critical recognition and a fiercely devoted following. Rising from the ashes of Tubeway Army, he helped pioneer synth pop and drove it into the mainstream, forging a career that has endured for decades. His influence remains woven through modern electronic and alternative music.First up on DISC 1 is Numan’s incendiary show at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney, Australia, on 31 May 1980. Recorded a year after his debut album The Pleasure Principle in 1979 and just months before Telekon, the utterly commanding performance finds him at the height of his critical and commercial powers.DISC 2 features Numan’s set in North Carolina at Moogfest 2016 on 20 May, performing The Pleasure Principle in full alongside a handful of bonus tracks. A lap of honour of sorts, it finds him attacking the songs with renewed fire, transforming revered classics into something thrillingly immediate.Closing the set on DISC 3 is Numan’s second appearance at Moogfest 2016, recorded the following day, where he delivered Telekon in its entirety.
