Meaning “ecumene”, ‘Oikoumene’ refers to an ancient Greek notion, designating the inhabited or “civilized” sections of our planet, in other words those where mankind has left its mark.
It’s within this framework that THEODOR BASTARD brought together musicians of Russian, Zulu, Indian, British, and French-African traditions and impressive array of natural instruments (daf, doira, dumbek, udo, kalimba, reko-reko, caxixi, ashiko, talking drum) from across the world to create this album. Originally released in 2012, it is now finally reissued!As Aki Nawaz from cult British band Fun-Da-Mental states, “Theodor Bastard reflect the genuine art of musical expression in all its parameters”.
All our licensed merch is packed and posted directly by our small team at our Manchester unit. Each order is carefully packed in recyclable paper packaging or biodegradable materials and then sent via Royal Mail.
