Gorguts – PLEIADES DUST Mini CD
£15.99
22 track double CD package from Canadian cult technical death metal act Gorguts, featuring their first two classic albums originally released via Roadrunner Records.Formed in Quebec in 1989, Gorguts were the brainchild of Luc Lemay, and initially performed more brutal, traditional death metal, before morphing into one of the leading exponents of ‘technical death metal’ with complex and dense arrangements. After releasing just one demo in 1990, the band were signed by Roadrunner and released the debut ‘Considered Dead’ which featured guest appearances from Chris Barnes (Cannibal Corpse/Six Feet Under) and James Murphy (Death, Obituary).‘The Erosion of Sanity’ followed in 1993 after which they were dropped by the label and went on hiatus for five years.Today Gorguts is considered a massive influence on a whole raft of bands favouring a more technical and obtuse approach. They have been nominated for a Juno award and have received widespread international acclaim. This release features extensive liner notes from respected journalist Olivier Badin, featuring a lengthy and detailed new interview with Gorguts founder and mainstay Luc Lemay.Metal Hammer’s 10 Most Underrated Death Metal Albums stated: “The Canadians’ ‘91 debut is simply one of the best flat-out death metal albums released during the genre’s golden era, and songs like ‘Disincarnated’ and ‘Rottenatomy’ were every bit the equal of anything unleashed by death metal’s big names.”
