Motörhead formed in 1975 out of the raw vision of frontman and bassist Lemmy Kilmister, who, after parting ways with Hawkwind, set out to create a band that fused the speed of punk with the aggression of heavy rock. Joined by guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clarke and drummer Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor, the classic power trio quickly forged a sound that was loud, fast, and unapologetically heavy -  the blueprint for a new era in rock music. Their relentless sound and outlaw spirit laid the groundwork for thrash metal, speed metal, and punk rock alike, with countless bands – including Metallica – citing them as a foundational influence.First up is a blistering session recorded for BBC Radio 1’s John Peel in 1978, shortly after the release of their self-titled debut. Raw and urgent, these tracks capture Motörhead at their most primal: hungry, reckless, and loud. The energy is undeniable, laying down a marker for everything the band would come to represent.Next is their high-octane set from the Popmeeting Festival in the Netherlands on 15 May 1980. Still months away from releasing Ace of Spades, the band are in peak form, blazing through their set with the swagger and ferocity that would soon make them legends.The final show features Motörhead’s thunderous performance at the Earthquake Festival on 1 April 1986, again in the Netherlands. Nearly ten years in, the band had become a hardened touring machine. With a tighter, more assured sound, this set is a ferocious display that shows they had not only survived, but thrived through a decade of rock 'n' roll chaos, already well on their way to establishing themselves as living legends.
