‘Never Ending Night Of Terror’ is HEADS FOR THE DEAD eagerly awaited fourth album and first since 2023 EP ‘In The Absence Of Faith’. It’s also their second release for Pulverised Records, with whom they signed in 2023.This ten tracks effort is presented by vocalist Ralf Hauber - off REVEL IN FLESH and ROTPIT fame - as an “overall more extreme album, in all aspects”. There’s an even stronger emphasis on one intense cinematic vibe, focused on “our favorite slasher movies driven by revenge, violence and, of course, fear”, citing such classics as David Cronenberg’s ‘Videodrome’, Roman Polanski’s ‘Repulsion’, the original ‘Friday the 13th’, Stuart Gordon’s ‘The Beyond’ and ‘Re-Animator’, ‘Motel Hell’, ‘City Of The Dead’ and so on…The whole music was written by multi-instrumentist Jonny Petterson, who took a lot of inspiration from many ‘cult’ original soundtracks but also NECROPHAGIA. The lyrics were entirely penned by Hauber based on the aforementioned movies but also adding a fictional aspect to them too. Completing the line-up since 2022 are Matt Moliti from SENTIENT HORROR on lead guitars and, for the first time, Evan Daniele (also from SENTIENT HORROR but also DEAD AND DRIPPING) on drums.A self-proclaimed horror move freak himself, Italian artist Solo Macello (PENTAGRAM, ZAKK SABBATH, BAND OF SPICE etc.) is for the first time responsible for the artwork, based on both Jonny and Ralf vision. The mask of the main slasher figure on the cover is inspired by a horror mask hanging in Jonny’s living room and can be, on purpose, seen as SODOM own mascot evil-twin.To round up this little gallery of horror full of monsters, serial killers and nightmares come true, the band have decided to pay homage to GOBLIN by coming up with an original track openly inspired by the Italian prog rock masters and Dario Argento’s ‘Suspiria’, whose original soundtrack was actually done by GOBLIN themselves (lend your ears close enough and you might even get a glimpse of the movie’s main theme somewhere). To quote the man himself: “Horror metal of death is how we label our style. But in the end, it’s a DEATH METAL album, yes in capital letters!!!”
