SCATTERED REMNANTS – DESTINED TO FAIL CD

Scattered Remnants’ cult 1998 full-length Destined to Fail delivers primitive, groove-heavy brutal death metal savagery. The first time ever on wax!Originally released in 1998 through Repulse Records, Destined to Fail stands as the lone full-length statement from Massachusetts death metal cult Scattered Remnants – a savage and uncompromising document of underground brutality that has only grown in stature over time.Emerging from the same fertile American death metal underground that produced pioneers of brutal and groove-driven extremity, Scattered Remnants forged a sound rooted in primitive heaviness, suffocating atmosphere, and relentlessly punishing songwriting. While many late-90s death metal bands pursued increasingly technical approaches, Destined to Fail embraced raw aggression and crushing groove, delivering a barbaric style of brutal death metal that felt both filthy and devastatingly effective.Built upon the foundation laid by the now legendary Inherent Perversion EP, the album pushed the band’s sound even further into oppressive territory. Massive riffs, cavernous vocals, and unhinged rhythmic violence collide throughout the record, creating a listening experience that remains intensely heavy decades after its original release.Over the years, Destined to Fail has developed a devoted cult following among underground death metal fans and collectors, with listeners often citing the album as an overlooked cornerstone of early brutal death metal. Its influence can still be heard in modern death metal and hardcore-adjacent bands that continue to draw inspiration from its primitive, groove-heavy attack and uncompromising underground spirit. Now restored as part of a complete archival campaign celebrating the recorded works of Scattered Remnants, Destined to Fail finally receives renewed attention as one of underground American death metal’s most punishing and under-appreciated releases – a raw and bludgeoning artifact from a time when extremity was driven by instinct, violence, and absolute devotion to the underground.
